Wantering caught up with Claire & Jen of The Jane Doze at SXSW last month. If you haven’t heard their brand of infectious, booty-shaking, mashups yet, hit the play button below before you read any further. We dare you not to bounce your head.

Both halves of the duo originated from small towns in Pennsylvania but met in NYC working in the record industry. They’ve only been releasing tracks as The Jane Doze for 2 years but have already shared the stage with A-Trak, Diplo, Erykah Badu, and have DJ’ed at New York Fashion Week. When we caught up with them they were in the middle of a 5 show blitz at SXSW. The Jane Doze mean business: they even have matching antler tattoos (the duo’s trademark symbol).#antlersup

What was the genesis of your personal style?

Jen: We both came from small towns in Pennsylvania. I don’t think fashion played a huge role in our lives then. I lived in Miami for a while, and Claire and I both live in New York now. I think I’m most inspired by what I see people wearing on the street.

Claire: I was 18 when I moved to New York. That definitely shaped my style. I threw out everything in my wardrobe and replaced it with black.

What fashion blogs or magazines do you read for inspiration?

Claire: Altamira & New York Magazine

Jen: I love Lookbook.nu and CLOSETRICH is the shit

What’s the one thing you can’t get enough of?

Claire: Some girls are shoe girls. We’re both sunglass girls.

Jen: I love finding vintage old ones at cool stores.

Any trends that you love right now?

Claire: I love the leather trend. I’m really happy to see leather pants and t-shirts with leather shoulders.Leather

Jen: It’s cool to see shirts with an embellished collar. I love seeing people buttoning something all the way to the top and either wearing a piece of jewelry underneath it or having a collar that’s cool and unique. Embellished Collar

What advice would you give to your 14 year old self?

Jen: Go after things that scare you. That’s when the most exciting things happen.
